“Shopmobility services could help YOU visit Paisley Town Centre”

 says Douglas Alexander MP

Shopmobility Paisley and District is staffed and run mostly by volunteers and offers a free service helping people with limited mobility to visit Paisley town centre.

Based in the Paisley Centre Car Park, they offer free daily hire of manual and powered wheelchairs and powered scooters. Manual wheelchairs and portable travel scooters are also available for longer term hire. The Shopmobility volunteer escorts can also be waiting to meet those arriving in the town centre by public transport, and can help with shopping or other business if required.

Visiting Shopmobility, Douglas Alexander MP said “This is an invaluable service for all those with mobility problems to be able to visit Paisley shops independently, with freedom and confidence.”

“With the Christmas shopping season upon us this could be just the help YOU need to shop in Paisley, but hadn’t thought about before. Alternatively, if you have some time to spare please think about becoming a volunteer helper for this charity”
Shopmobility administrator Anne Marie McKeown said “We are really keen to let people know we are here to help. Many people don’t realise you don’t have to be, registered disabled or a Blue Badge holder to make use of the Shopmobility service. The service is available to anyone, young or old, with temporary or permanent mobility impairment, whether through disability, illness or injury.”
