Question Time at St Andrew's Academy

St Andrews school nov 11Question Time at St Andrew’s Academy sees Douglas Alexander MP answer pupils’ questions.

Douglas Alexander MP was delighted to visit St Andrews Academy recently to talk to Modern Studies pupils.

He joined a 5th/6th year class, followed by 3rd and 4th year pupils to talk about the job of an MP both locally in Paisley & Renfrewshire South, and representing his constituents in Westminster.  Pupils were also interested in his role in the Shadow Cabinet, as Shadow Foreign Secretary.  Douglas was happy to invite a question and answer session with pupils which provided a wide range of topics for discussion.

Douglas said, “It’s a pleasure to engage with St Andrews pupils about my job as their local MP - and, alongside devolution and the Scottish Parliament, what Westminster does and doesn’t do that affects the daily lives of local people, as well as the UK role within Europe and the wider International stage. I welcomed the range of questioning. The enthusiasm was commendable”

Teacher Marisa McNulty who organised the visit said “Douglas’s visit was really successful. There was a keenness to question the local MP, and as our S5/S6 class are covering wider topics such as China and the USA, Douglas’s experience in Government and now as Shadow Foreign Secretary allowed us to touch on those areas too”
